While we're taking care of our life things and getting used to new routines, it's easy to forget that our pets have to get used to everything, too. I'm reminded of how Ruby, our late German Shepherd, used to lie by the door waiting for her favorite members of the household to come home, and the way she'd put her head in our laps when she sensed someone needed a friend at that moment.
