For the First Snowfall

Snow Plow
Prismatic chips clatter against glass frames
wind-driven, opaque collections
heaped to infinity.
Blacktop and tarmac await the scrape
As Gea tucks in sleepy grassesWith frosty, hibernate hands.
chink-a-chink
Metal dentures rumble past
chink-a-chinkchink-a-chink
Steel maw cleaves the twilight
Rows of white topped ground unmasked.

Loved "For the First Snowfall"! Its imagery is evocative in both its visual and sound effects; it's even got a nice surreal touch to it. Here in PA, we, too, are hearing the pitter-patter of little hailstones, forming a lovely shiny surface on the thick, fluffy blanket of snow that closed school for Siobhan and the kids today! :-)
